ROTOR SOLUTIONS

A unique solution, hand crafted.

Since the late seventies the doors of TAROX have been open to customers far and wide looking for Bespoke brake rotors. In this time we have seen many wonderful vehicles, from true icons such as the Lamborghini Miura and Diablo to the Nissan GTR, with many performance cars and exotica in-between.

MATERIALS MATTER

Using only the finest materials, each TAROX Bespoke rotor is machined from a solid billet of high-quality European steel, which is then heat treated for extra strength. Our steel has an ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 57kg/mm2. Using CNC technology, each slice of billet is machined into the exact dimensions required to ensure a perfect fit for each application. Vented rotors are manufactured with curved internal ventilation, utilising 20 directional ‘venturi’ veins which accelerate hot gasses and aid heat dissipation. Composite brake rotors that require a two piece configuration receive a hat section machined from 7075 billet aluminum which we hard anodize for protection from the elements.

2 piece or not 2 piece?

TAROX Bespoke rotors destined for classic marques are often produced in a traditional single piece configuration to maintain the original aesthetic of the vehicle. Furthermore, the facings of the rotors can be specified without slots or holes for a truly OE look, perfect for concours vehicles. More modern vehicles, and vehicles with enhanced levels of performance, will configured with a TAROX designed two piece version of the original manufacturers brake rotor. Fixed, semi-floating, and fully-floating configurations are all carefully considered during the design process to maximise suitability and performance for each individual application. The use of billet aluminum for the hat section of the rotor results in a product that is not only stronger than the OE equivalent but also lighter. This is beneficial not just to braking, but also to cornering, acceleration, and fuel consumption.

Unique Processes

Every single TAROX brake rotor undergoes a series of heat treatments between each machining stage. This overnight process aligns the structure of the metal and is proven to increase the longevity and stability of the rotor. An optional cataphoretic anti corrosion coating can be applied to the rotor using a special electronically controlled application method. This special resin based coating is the same product used by car manufacturers on chassis components and protects all of the unswept areas of the rotor from the elements. The final stage of manufacturing polishes and balances the rotor on special in house machinery which creates a perfectly flat braking surface with a tolerance approaching 0.015mm. This process reduces bedding in times and gives the rotor that special unique TAROX shine.
FUN FACT: the machinery used in this final stage of production is re-calibrated after every three cycles.

What if it floats?

TAROX floating brake rotors use stainless steel bobbins to allow the working steel section of the rotor to expand and contract independently of the aluminum hat. Our semi-floating arrangement, as used on most road applications, allows the rotor to expand and contract radially, reducing the possibility of warping and helping to mitigate heat transfer to vital vehicle components such as wheel bearings and CV joints. Our fully floating arrangement allows for lateral axial movement in addition to radial expansion. This feature reduces brake pad ‘knock off’ for a more immediate pedal response – ideal for cars with larger diameter setups driven in competition.

For both systems we engineer the ‘float’ into the harder wearing steel part of the assembly rather than the softer aluminum hat section like many competitor products. This increases the lifespan of the alloy hat allowing you to re-use them once the rotors have worn out.

want. need.

TAROX bespoke rotors allow you to drive harder. The use of semi-floating hard anodized hats and curved Venturi ventilation saves weight and cools better. This crucial reduction in un-sprung weight and improved cooling allows you to turn sharper, accelerate quicker, and stop faster. The use of stronger metals not only improves performance but also increases longevity.
